Hello Neighbors:
Another year has past and I am again writing the annual letter for the Flivver Drive. The
Flivver is that little green and white bus that is seen throughout the borough taking Senior Citizens
to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, hair dressers and the many other businesses in our
borough. It is a happy little bus that has made many friends in over the 25 years it has been running
around the streets of our town. You, the citizens of Forest Hills, certainly help make the Flivver
"jump for joy" by your annual support which has enabled the Community Service Committee to keep
it in tip top running condition and safe for all who ride it. Citizens, who are disabled and under the
age of 55, showing proof of the disability (usually from your doctor) can also ride "our bus."
A happy event for the Flivver is the Sunday morning church pick up. It will take you to the
l0 o'clock Mass at St. Maurice and then pick up for the other church services. On Sunday, you can
call the driver direct on the mobile phone 412-519-3955 between the hours of 9:15 and 10:30 A.M.
if you have not called the Police Desk at 412-351-4141 earlier in the week. Also the Flivver would
like you to call the Police Desk if you only want to know if it is running. If you are a new senior
citizen, the Flivver operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The Forest Hills Community Service Committee are all volunteers as are all the drivers. We
are ALWAYS in need of volunteer drivers, most are retirees and they move, take vacations, visit
families and have other reasons for giving up driving. So if you have a current drivers license and
are 25 years of age or older, man or woman, you will get excellent training from Pat Brennan. You
can call him at 412-371-8376 and he will be glad to answer all your questions.
We are proud to tell you that we are a qualified nonprofit organization and your donation is
tax deductible. Your donation can also be given through the United Way Fund Drive.
